At Nathan Hale High School, they were coached by ex-NBA All-Star Brandon Roy and achieved a perfect 29–0 season, winning the Washington Class 3A State Championship. Jontay excelled, averaging 14.3 points and 13.6 rebounds per game.

Jontay Porter College career:
Porter debuted in Missouri’s 2017 season with a win against Iowa State and quickly made an impact, recording significant points and rebounds in subsequent games.
He started mid-season, achieving notable double-doubles and a season-high score against Vanderbilt. While initially entering the 2018 NBA draft with his brother, he didn’t hire an agent, preserving the option to return to college. Eventually, he chose to continue at Missouri over the NBA draft.
On October 21, 2018, Porter was ruled out for his sophomore season due to ACL and MCL tears from a scrimmage. He suffered another ACL tear during rehab in March 2019.
