The late Michael Jefferson, Lizzo’s father, was born on September 29, 1953. He owned a business and loved classic rock, particularly tunes from Elton John and Queen. He and his wife, Shari Johnson-Jefferson, had three children: Vanessa, Mickey Jefferson and Lizzo.

On Instagram, Lizzo shared a throwback photo of her younger self with her parents, giving fans a peek into her earlier days.

He was a passionate admirer of Sir Elton John and his music and ran a thriving business of his own. Even in his busy schedule, Michael finds time to encourage his children, particularly Lizzo.

It was super hard for her because she was so young, had no place to stay, no job, and felt like she had no one to talk to. She didn’t want to end her life, but she was very tired of all the difficult things she was going through. Michael died in 2009.
